Lois Chingandu appointed Interim Executive Director of Frontline AIDS

Lois Chingandu brings more than 20 years of hands-on leadership experience to her new interim role

Lois Chingandu will be stepping in as the Interim Executive Director of Frontline AIDS in January 2023, having successfully worked as our Director of Evidence and Influence since 2019. Lois will be joined by Divya Bajpai, Director of Programmes and Partnerships, who will be acting as Deputy Executive Director during this interim period.

The appointments follow Christine Stegling’s move to UNAIDS as Deputy Executive Director, where she will lead the new Policy, Advocacy and Knowledge branch. UNAIDS is a vital partner in Frontline AIDS’ work, sharing our mission to tackle the inequalities that drive HIV and to create a future free from AIDS for everyone, everywhere.

Lois, who is based in South Africa, brings more than 20 years of hands-on leadership experience to her new interim role. She has led organisations working to prevent HIV and advocating for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender equality and greater civil society engagement in public health in Southern Africa.

In this short interview Lois and Christine look towards the future of Frontline AIDS and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
