Service Delivery Outreach Models for men who have sex with men

Engaging in same-sex sexual intercourse in Kenya and Uganda is a risky business, forbidden by law. In both countries the experiences of gay and bisexual men and other men who have sex with men (MSM) often equate to stories of exclusion, isolation and, at times, abuse and violence.

Despite this, human rights activism in both countries is not just alive but rapidly developing, sustained by a wealth of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) organisations that work tirelessly to advocate for change and meet the needs of increasingly visible LGBTI communities.

This case study outlines the work of the SHARP programme, which aimed to effectively reduce the spread and impact of HIV among MSM, while building healthy communities of MSM in East Africa.
