AIDS 2022: Effective COVID-19 responses and pandemic preparedness through HIV community systems

Effective COVID-19 responses and pandemic preparedness through HIV community systems- strategies for civil society and national governments

HIV civil society has been instrumental in the COVID-19 response, particularly for marginalised communities. However, at both global & national level, pandemic preparedness planning has neglected to properly engage CSOs. In this interactive workshop, participants will discuss how Global South based civil society and communities can most effectively become part of national and pandemic preparedness response (PPPR) mechanisms, and how to influence budgets so that HIV community systems are funded as part of whole-of-society models of collaboration to achieve effective PPPR.
